Edge Hill Country School is an independent school offering education inspired by the Waldorf curriculum for children from kindergarten to Grade 8. Edge Hill is situated outside the town of Durham, Ontario on the edge of farmland in an original Ontario schoolhouse with two other buildings on a natural playground. We are within half an hour of the beauty of the Bruce Peninsula on Lake Huron and about two hours north of Toronto, Canada’s largest city.

We are now accepting applications for the position of Grades Teacher, for the 2020-2021 school year.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team with the existing faculty group
  • Strong commitment to Waldorf education
  • Demonstrated ability to work with the parents to support and strengthen their understanding of Waldorf education
  • Waldorf Teacher Education Certificate and/or Ontario Teacher training preferred

Our school offers professional development opportunities and mentoring for faculty. We have a working Board of Directors and a highly involved parent community. Edge Hill School is a non-profit organization.

Edge Hill has a 4-day school week, Monday-Thursday. Yearly contracts range from $22,000 to $37,000 depending on education and experience.

Kindergarten Lead Teacher | Edge Hill Country School, Durham, ON Canada

Edge Hill School is seeking a second Lead Kindergarten teacher who will co-teach to create a warm loving home-like classroom for up to 24 children (each Lead will be responsible for up to 12 children during inside time and be a part of a larger group during some outside time and festivals). Our Kindergarten teachers model qualities such as self-discipline, creativity, imagination, respectfulness, gratitude, interest in the world, reverence for all things, personal reflection, development, an ongoing inner practice, and a willingness to work.

This is a one-year contract to replace a teacher taking a leave of absence. Upon successful completion of the one-year term, we will consider to extend or renew the applicant’s employment the following year. This is a full-time, salaried position with tuition remission. The yearly salary range is based on education and experience, ranging from $22,000 to $37,000. Regular hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:30am – 3:30pm, with one afternoon faculty meeting until 5pm weekly. Kindergarten faculty will also be responsible for regular check-ins and meetings. Two weeks should be reserved for before the first day of school and after the last day of school for preparation and closing tasks.

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in education or a related field.
  • completed Waldorf ECE Training.
  • a minimum of 3 years experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • a deep commitment to Waldorf principles and interest in self-development.
  • good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • a desire to contribute to the school through festivals and committee work.

Early Childhood Educator | Periwinkle Children’s Centre, Kaslo, BC Canada

Desired start date: September 2020

Periwinkle Children’s Centre is seeking an Early Childhood Educator to join our team in beautiful Kaslo, BC.

We are looking to fill a full-time and/or part-time year-round position with a warm and enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator. The Educator will share responsibility for the daily care and education in our licensed early childhood program, and will be working with our lead ECE on some days, and with an experienced assistant on other days. Our ideal candidate will have experience and/or training in Waldorf Early Childhood Education, enjoy baking and cooking, art, handwork, singing, and story telling. They will have a love for nature and outdoor education, and will support inclusion and openness. The ability to work as part of our team is essential.

Requirements

  • BC Childcare License (ECCE)
  • A clear criminal record check
  • Current CPR/First Aid
  • Experience or interest in Waldorf pedagogical approach to Early Childhood Education
  • Ability to maintain an aesthetically pleasing, clean, safe, and sanitary classroom
