This course is for Early Childhood Practitioners who wish to deepen their work with infants and little children; for mothers, raising children at home; for grandmothers, in their important role of quietly being there; and for any professionals wanting to gain a new perspective on working with infants and young children. It is based on an Anthroposophical understanding of the human being as given by Dr Rudolf Steiner. As a pre-requisite it is expected that the participant will have an understanding of or openness to this world view.
The participant will be supported with movement, music, singing and art, along with the practical sessions of ‘Whispering the Child into Life’ – the art of creating something for the infant and little child that whispers to them, leaving the imagination free and flexible.
Spacial Dynamics – The principles of Spacial Dynamics can address issues related to the increasing demands of daily life, enhance our sense of well-being, and become the foundation for learning the differences between sympathy, empathy and compassionate detachment - with Jane Williams
Painting – Theme: Mother and Child. Each of the primary colours will be explored in depth, leading to a deeper connection and broader understanding of them and their spiritual significance in relationship to the ”Being” of colour. Emphasis will be placed upon the subtle relationships of gesture arising out of colour itself as we work with basic exercises; sharing our experiences together through observation and commentary – with Gordon Skuse
Music/Singing – The Werbeck voice exercises will be introduced in order to help us sing more freely with the children. Participants will become familiar with songs and lullabies in the mood of the fifth and the use of the kinderharp, music appropriate for very young children - with Annette Lampson
Eurythmy – The aim of this course is to awaken the seeds of beautiful movement. Principles will be introduced for understanding the ‘language’ of our gestures and for developing healthy balanced movement with the children -
with Wendalyn von Meyenfeldt
